Breakfast was fine for the type it was. Our group was there for an interment in the family plot, and no one was currently living in Goderich. No arrangement had been made by anyone in the family to have 30 or so together for lunch after the service. The afternoon before the service asked the owner if we could use the breakfast room for this purpose and he agreed, but pointed out that the service would be slow due to serving the patio and bar customers as well. It was slow, but with such short notice we at least were able to be in a private room and visit since some folks had come from far distances. Hopefully in future these folks will remember to consider that having lunch for large groups on holiday weekends in a tourist town takes planning far, far ahead! One possibility that would perhaps have made serving so many meals more quickly might have been to offer a limited menu of half a dozen items rather than the full menu. This is definitely not a criticism of the service, merely a possible suggestion for the future should some other group be dumb enough to forget planning lunch. Our waitress was great!

The breakfast had a number of good choices and the room was pleasant. The hotel lobby with the impressive staircase caught our attention. We enjoyed an excellent fish and chip dinner in Paddy's pub. The location was an unexpected bonus being in the center of Goderich and across from the Courthouse Square. So it was close to a number of shops. The Square was very attractive and relaxing in the vegetation. On Friday night we enjoyed a concert by the Huron County Honors Band and the Saturday morning Farmers Market was great. We enjoyed the variety of vendors and enjoyed some delicious local raspberries and apple cider and purchased a lovely tea towel and a baby sleeper and bib.

Great location. Right on CourthouseSquare which is the centre of the old town. Walking distance to some very good restaurants and shops. It’s an old worldly hotel which I like. Many former guests have commented on the faded glory of the place, but it still has it’s charm. I’d guess it was built in the 1880’s (?). Rooms are very clean, the bed comfortable and air conditioning. There provide a morning breakfast with great coffee until 11am. If you just want to grab a coffee and drink in your room or to go, no problem, they provide paper cups with lids. There’s also a bar and restaurant below with live music on the Friday/ Saturday we were there. Fun way to finish the evening.

Breakfast, though self-serve, was more than adequate for what we like. Room was spacious, king-size bed very comfortable, and the bathroom had a full-size tub, which is a luxury in hotels these days. We were able to park right in front of the hotel door. The Bedford is well situated at the heart of Goderich.

This is a very old hotel, we were expecting the worst! The main hallway is not a good entrance to the experience ( old dirty carpet) but once in our room(s) we were all very happy with the cleanliness and the beds were SOOO comfortable and clean
